Field Visit for Warith Al-Anbiyaa Engineering Students to Al-Hindiya Barrage Project

The College of Engineering at the University of Warith Al-Anbiyaa (PBUH) organized a scientific field trip for Civil Engineering students to Al-Hindiya Barrage Project, one of Iraq's major strategic infrastructure projects. The visit aimed to expand students’ horizons by linking the theoretical concepts learned in classrooms with practical, real-world applications.
During the visit, students explored the history of the barrage, its construction mechanisms, water capacity, and the electricity generated by the facility. They also gained an understanding of the operation of the barrage gates.
The visit targeted third- and fourth-year Civil Engineering students, focusing on enhancing their practical skills and providing direct field experience. It offered a valuable opportunity for students to interact with project specialists, contributing to their knowledge development and sharpening their professional skills as they prepare for future careers in civil engineering.

Minister of Higher Education Honors AI Developers Award Winners

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, honored the winners of the Excellence Award for AI Developers during the Third Annual Iraqi AI Forum.
During the event, the Minister emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence by establishing a College of AI, creating specialized departments and centers, and supporting curriculum development related to AI integration across academic programmes. He also highlighted the launch of the AI Award for Scientific Research, the formation of AI Engineering Clubs in universities and colleges, and the foundation of AI and cybersecurity laboratories.
Dr. Al-Aboudi noted that the rapid growth in AI necessitates synchronized efforts and provides vital opportunities for expanding knowledge and practices. He stressed the importance of leveraging AI in education, forecasting outcomes, and enhancing research tools and technologies to better understand and address current challenges and demands.
The forum featured a speech by the President of the University of Information Technology and Communications, success stories and inspiring experiences in AI applications, and the recognition of the top three AI development projects. Additionally, a panel discussion was held on expert insights into the future of AI, along with an exhibition showcasing AI-related equipment and applications.

Minister of Higher Education Chairs Second Meeting of Opinion Committee for 2025

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, chaired the second meeting of the Opinion Committee for 2025, attended by senior officials and presidents of public universities.
At the outset of the meeting, the Minister emphasized the Ministry's unwavering commitment to its scientific and service-oriented role in supporting students, providing assistance, and fostering leadership opportunities.
He stressed the importance of upholding authentic academic values and preserving university traditions during academic events to strengthen the standing of educational institutions as inspiring models in fulfilling their mission and developmental goals.
Dr. Al-Aboudi reaffirmed the necessity of working within the granted authorities, facilitating procedures in accordance with legal requirements, and streamlining efforts to serve the public interest in light of the Ministry's comprehensive digital transformation and process automation.
The Opinion Committee members discussed the items on the agenda and voted on the following decisions:
Public and private universities, colleges, and institutes are to upload and update student, faculty, and curriculum data into the Ministry's central systems (SIS, LMS, and HRMS) as part of the ongoing automation project launched by the Prime Minister.
Adoption of a specialized form for discussing higher diploma projects in medical fields.
Raising the minimum score for faculty performance evaluations to 75% for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Approval to allow the addition of PhD holders with the rank of lecturer who possess experience and competence to the scientific committees within departments in the absence of senior academic ranks.
Endorsement of the draft law for the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning for Postgraduate Studies.
